This is a fictional work created for a module called "Beyond Print". The assignment centered around the limitations of print and required us to come up with a solution to an identified problem.
 
THE PROBLEM:
The main problem with print that I have identified is its inability to keep children of this generation entertained and interested.

THE SOLUTION:
Hence, to counter this problem, I created Storysmith, an interactive storybook app made for children to help cultivate the healthy habit of reading in them.
 
THE PROCESS:
Due to the fact that this module was carried out in a "Self-Directed Learning" manner, there was no teaching of software skills involved. There were only consultation sessions with very little guidance provided. On top of that, the brief was very vague, which left a lot of room for creativity and freedom. Thus, I had the opportunity to explore a lot of options and come up with my own brief. I decided to focus on parents and appeal to them because I felt that they had the authority to download the app more than their children. Because of this, I needed to show parents why they would need the app and hence, I created a showreel, or short advert, for the app. In the advert, it shows scenes of a "Dream VS Reality" from a mom's point of view. We also had to put together a proposal board for our final presentation. This helped us to consolidate all our ideas together and have a more professional presentation. Before I got to the final idea, I had other concepts as well, all of which have been documented in a journal I was required to submit.

THE REFLECTION:
If not for this module, I would not have been able to fully explore Adobe After Effects and its functions. I have improved so much in the software compared to the previous year and I am so thankful for this module for igniting my love for video editing. Even though the video may not be the best, I am very proud of myself because I previously felt that video editing was my handicap and the one thing I could not do well.
