"Healthy food the fun way"

This is a simulated work created for my Studio Project 1. It is a preliminary project that prepares students for the Final Year Project in Year 3 of my  polytechnic course. For this studio project, I decided to brand and advertise a fictional event that I came up with.

THE MESSAGE:
After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that most young children nowadays do not like to eat generally "healthier foods" like fruits and veggies. Thus, I wanted to focus on that and encourage more healthy food into their little mouths. This is done by changing their perception of healthy food and teaching them that eating healthy food can be fun too. This message is cultivated into the exhibition "To Eat & Play".

TO EAT & PLAY:
Channeling the message, the title of the exhibition is called "To Eat & Play". It is a fun title that is meant to intrigue the audience into wanting to find out more about the exhibition.

ILLUSRTRATED STYLE:
For the exhibition, I decided to hand illustrate all of the elements as I felt that only through that way will I be able to attract (and keep) the attention of children. The colours are bright, consisting of pink, blue, green, yellow, red  and orange. These colours are a mix of primary and secondary colours and are bright enough to be able to stand out in the masses.

MASCOTS:
In all of the collaterals, there are the same 7 mascots, which are an illustrated cartoon version of healthy foods (carrot, cherries, water, banana, broccoli, brinjal, watermelon). This was so as to keep all the collaterals consistent with the main exhibition and help root the children to the exhibition.

PRINT ADS (3 VERSIONS):
For the print ads, I decided to create 3 fully illustrated posters. The posters are all different, one is landscape and two are portrait (seen on the left). The landscape poster is the main poster. It consists of all the mascots in various positions and many many fruits. The background is turquoise, and is consistent with the collaterals. The portrait posters are the sub posters. They will be placed in busy areas such as train stations and bus stops.

CATALOGUES (3 VERSIONS):
To make things consistent with the posters, I decided to create 3 catalogues/ brochures too (seen below). These catalogues have the same content, except that they each have their individual mascots and colour schemes (blue, yellow and green). The different designs will help to interest the children and attract a bigger crowd. The catalogues will be placed at the beginning of the exhibition, free for all.

WEBSITE:
As part of the deliverables I created for To Eat & Play, I created a website for the exhibition. To keep things interesting, I added lots of gifs of the mascots moving all around the pages. This helped to add movement into the website and make it less static. The colours used also were consistent with the exhibition's signature colours.

DELIVERABLES:
To make the exhibition more welcoming and attractive to children, I decided to design and make some deliverables.

Namely:
1. A children's activity book, which parents can purchase for their child to
help keep them engaged during the exhibition.

2. A lunch box and tea set for children.
3. A colouring pencil set to go with the activity book.
4. An assortment of stickers with the mascots for children that will be
placed around the exhibition or used as sort of a "prize" for them when
they have completed a certain challenge in the exhibition.

5. Tickets (in 4 different designs) to keep things interesting and maintain
consistency with the fun and vibrant theme of the exhibition.

6. A recipe book for parents with healthy recipes (made up of the the
mascots– as in what food they are) that will promote healthy eating
     within the family.

SHOWREEL:
To sum up the exhibition as a whole, I made a showreel and short TVC to promote the exhibition. This can be posted onto social media sites to help spread the word of the exhibition and increase visitorship.
